About the work

This sculpture was inspired by an incredible piece of wood, which I found in the forest and the desire to combine different materials in my ceramic artwork.

I painted this intriguing branch in gold and copper colors and this gave me the idea to create a blue moon shaped ceramic piece to join it with. I used the raku japenese technique of glazing for the moon to give it a unique texture and colour.
