About the work

The concept behind this sculpture was to create a shape, deconstruct it and after that reconstract it into a totally new shape. For this I choose the ceramic medium and created a vase, which I then cut horizontally into rectangular parts. These stripes were then reassambled on top of each other, starting with the middle part, which was the widest. The sculpture was than fired in the oven, painted and refired, in order to obtain the beautiful glazing effect.

This approach revelead the methamorphosis of the vase into a modern cubist sculpture.
